Please note, while learning a new language like German, it is best to not translate everything. Understanding the grammar, its rules, and the context of what we want to say and how we say it is very important. However, considering this is a textual medium, I may provide some translations to English for better understanding.

Before going ahead, if you're not familiar with the personal pronouns, you can quickly refer here - Personal Pronouns in German

Here's a table for the possessive articles of German/Deutsch.

Now if we go with literal translations, it would go something like: my, your, his, it's, her, our, yours, theirs. Considering there are genders and the plural form in the German language, we have to know when to use which article when we speak or write.

Below are some examples where I've used the possessive article:

  1. Mein Mann ist nett. ~ My husband is nice. Form used - ich + masculine

  2. Deine Frau ist klug. ~ Your wife is smart. Form used - du + feminine

  3. Sein Baby ist schön. ~ His baby is beautiful. Form used - er + neutral

  4. Unsere Kinder sind jung. ~ Our kids are young. Form used - wir + plural

  5. Meine Frau liebt ihre Eltern. ~ My wife loves her parents. Form used - ich + feminine Form used - her + plural (since parents is plural)
